At the Tamale Kitchen, five women have turned their love for a cultural tradition into great-tasting tamales that generate revenue, create jobs, and provide new opportunities for the next generation. They work with a former corporate trainer and a local businessman and a variety of community partners across Kansas City who are committed to making a difference by providing guidance and help to keep costs low while paying livable wages.
Ten Thousand Villages Overland Park is excited to be a community partner with Tamale Kitchen, an organization whose mission locally is akin to the mission of Ten Thousand Villages globally.
Order your authentic, hand-made tamales from thetamalekitchen.org to be picked up on Saturday, June 25th between 10-2 at Ten Thousand Villages Overland Park. The tamales will be frozen and payment of cash or local check will be processed at pick up. Additional pick up opportunities at Ten Thousand Villages Overland Park have been scheduled for Thursday, June 30th from 4-7 and Local Life Third Fridays, July 21st and August 19th from 5-9.
